The arabic script in the lesson pdf doesn't display properly

I can't seem to get my computer to show the Arabic script in the lesson pdf notes -
there are only dots...

I've had the problem on an ipod before, but never on a computer (I've tried Adobe Reader 9 and Foxit reader)

Any ideas on what I am missing?

It is actually only happening on a few pdfs - so its probably not too much of a problem...
