1. |
تذكرة |
(tazkarah) "ticket" |
For example, |
حجزت تذكرة لشرم. |
(ḥagazt tazkarah lešarm.) |
"I have booked a ticket to Sharm." |
2. |
سياحة |
(seyāḥah) "tourism" |
أنا جي مصر سياحة. |
(ʾanā gayy maṣr seyāḥah.) |
"I'm in Egypt for tourism." |
3. |
متحف |
(matḥaf) "museum" |
هنروح المتحف بكرة. |
(hanrūḥ el-matḥaf bokrah.) |
"We're going to the museum tomorrow." |
4. |
أتوبيس |
(ʾotūbīs) "bus" |
For example, |
الأتوبيس وصل. |
(el-ʾotūbīs waṣal.) |
"The bus has arrived." |
Also, in Egypt, you’ll also hear the word, |
ميكروباص |
(miikrubas), which means “a minibus.” |
Or also you can hear, if you go to Alexandra, you might hear the word |
مشروع |
(mashrue). It literally means “a project,” but it also refers to a bus or a microbus. |

(maʿbad) "temple" |
زرت معبد حتشبسوت. |
(zort maʿbad ḥatšebsūt.) |
"I have visited Hatshepsut's temple." |

مسجد |
(masged) "mosque" |
مسجد محمد علي موجود جوة القلعة. |
(masged maḥammad ʿalī mawgūd gowwah el-ʾalʿah.) |
"Muhammad Ali Mosque is located inside the citadel." |

كنيسة |
(kenīsah) "church" |
قابلني عند الكنيسة. |
(ʾābelnī ʿand el-kenīsah.) |
"Meet me at the church." |
8. |
فندق |
(fondoʾ) "hotel" |
Or sometimes you would hear the word |
أوتيل |
(otel) "hotel" |
الفندق قدام الأهرامات. |
(el-fondoʾ ʾoddām el-ʾahrāmāt.) |
"The hotel is in front of the Pyramids." |
That’s a very fancy and expensive hotel. |

جولة |
(gawlah) "tour" |
And sometimes in Egypt, you would hear |
لفة |
(laffah), it means “to go around.” |
So for example, you can say |
هناخد جولة في المدينة الساعة ستّة. |
(hanāḫod gawlah fī el-madīnah el-sāʿah settah.) |
Or, |
هناخد لفة في المدينة الساعة ستّة. |
(hanāḫod laffah fī el-madīnah el-sāʿah settah.) |
Which means, "We'll take a city tour at 6 o'clock." |
10. |
مرشد سياحي |
(moršed seyāḥī) "tour guide" |
For example, you can say, |
أخويا مرشد سياحي. |
(ʾaḫūyā moršed seyāḥī.) |
"My brother is a tourist guide." |
